Terms of Use
Last updated: August 13, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Cordero (“Cordero”, “we”, “us”), an AI-assisted study tool at cordero.study, operated by Martin Merener, a sole proprietor located in Ontario, Canada. By creating an account or using Cordero, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Cordero. If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in Ontario), you may use Cordero only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login secure. Provide accurate information, and don’t share your account or let others use it.
3. Your content
- You keep ownership of the material you submit and the answers you write (“Your Content”).
- You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and send Your Content to our AI providers solely to operate the service for you (for example, to generate questions and score your answers), as described in our Privacy Policy.
- You represent that you have the right to submit Your Content and that doing so does not infringe anyone’s copyright or other rights. You are responsible for the material you upload.
- Takedown: if a rights holder notifies us that content infringes their rights, we may remove or disable access to it.
4. AI-generated content — important
Cordero uses AI to analyze your content, extract study items from it, generate questions and “ideal” answers, and score your answers. This output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong. Cordero is a study aid, not a source of authoritative, professional, medical, legal, or educational-certification advice, and we do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, grade, or result. Always verify important information against your original source material.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to exceed, evade, or circumvent usage limits, budgets, or rate limits;
- misuse or attempt to manipulate the AI features (including prompt-injection attempts);
- submit unlawful, infringing, or harmful content;
- disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service; or
- use Cordero to violate any law.
We may enforce these rules through the technical limits built into the service and by suspending or terminating accounts.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Cordero currently offers a free tier. When paid plans are offered:
- Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, acting as Merchant of Record (the seller of record for your transaction). The applicable price, billing frequency, renewal, and cancellation terms are shown to you at checkout before you pay.
- A paid subscription provides a monthly budget for AI-powered features (such as extracting items, generating questions, and scoring answers). If you use up the monthly budget before the cycle ends, you can add funds to keep going. Unused monthly budget does not carry over to the next cycle; funds you add yourself remain in your account until you use them. Current prices and amounts are shown before you subscribe.
- Paid plans renew automatically each period until you cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep your paid features until the end of the current paid period, after which your account returns to the free tier. Your account and data remain accessible — you can still sign in, review your items, questions, and answers, and export your data — though using AI-powered features again may require an active subscription or added funds.
- If you delete your account while you have a paid subscription, we cancel that subscription for you. No further payments are taken. Deletion is immediate and permanent, so — unlike a plain cancellation — you do not keep paid features for the rest of the period you already paid for, and that period is not refunded. If you want to use the time you have paid for, cancel first and delete your account later.
- Any funds you add are non-refundable once used. Deleting your account also ends any funds you have added, whether used or not; they are not refunded and cannot be recovered afterwards.
- Except where required by applicable consumer-protection law, fees already paid are non-refundable. Consumer rights that apply to your transaction are handled through Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record.
7. Availability and “as is”
We aim to keep Cordero available and working, but we provide it “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cordero and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (which may be zero if you use the free tier). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
9. Termination
You may stop using Cordero and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account cancels any paid subscription automatically, on the terms described in section 6. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, or to protect the service or other users.
10. Our intellectual property
Cordero — the application, its design, and its software — belongs to us. These Terms do not give you any rights in it, except to use the service as intended.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continuing to use Cordero after changes take effect means you accept them.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and you agree to the courts of Ontario for any disputes, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
